Visit Lowe Mill A&E

Located at 2211 Seminole Dr SW, Huntsville, AL 35805, Lowe Mill A&E is the largest privately‑owned arts facility in the United States, repurposed from a historic textile mill into a vibrant creative hub.

Located within its 190,000 sq ft building set on 12 acres it features 153 working studios, home to over 200 artists, plus 7 galleries, multiple performance venues, a theatre, foundry, community garden, and eateries.

Parking:

FREE, special events like Concerts on the Dock, Yule Y'all, Winter Solstice and Huntsville Comic Convention will charge a $10 parking fee


Pets:

Pets on leashes or in carriers are welcome in common areas. Pets are not allowed in restaurant areas.
Please be courteous and ask artists before entering their studio with your pet.
Please clean up after your pets.


Accessibility:

Doors 4, 13, 15, 17, and 21 are easily accessible entrances. Elevator is located near Door 13.


What to Expect

Visual Art & Studios:

• Explore diverse mediums—ceramics, jewelry, textiles, sculpture, printmaking, photography, culinary arts, and more—with artists working on‑site.

• Enjoy an “open‑door” policy where visitors can interact with artists and observe creative processes in real time.

Events & Workshops

• Outdoor Market: Saturdays 11 AM–4 PM, from early May through late October. Free entry, lots of vendor booths on site.

• Concerts on the Dock: A free weekly musical series at the water tower stage during spring and fall. Ideal for families and music lovers (parking is $10).

• Regular classes and workshops are offered—examples include cigar box guitar lessons, resin crafting, sewing, pottery and candle making.


Things to Look For on Your Visit:

- Come in Door 4 to view a collection of items found on the property.

- Mural by Logan Tanner located in the First Floor Connector that tells a visual history of the building.

- Look for the stained glass window on Second Floor North made by Susan Knecht as a tribute to the founder, Jim Hudson.

- Find the broom in the ceiling on the Third Floor.

- Look for the Compass Rose near Door 2 that shows that the building is built on an almost perfect North/South alignment.
- Wayfaring Signage is located throughout the building to help guide you.


Planning Tips

- Visiting Days Arrive Wednesday–Saturday to enjoy open studios
- Plan for Outdoor Market (Sat) or Concerts on the Dock during spring/fall
- Set aside at least 4 hours to browse studios, galleries, and grab a bite to eat or drink in one of our cafes
- Carpooling recommended for busy events
