Terry Hale | Studio 2053 | Hale Fire Glass

Working with molten glass is exciting, humbling, and indescribably satis-
fying. The processes involved are thousands of years old yet every session

at the torch is a learning experience. The chemical makeup of glass allows
for endless colors and special effects, many of them yet to be discovered.
I draw my inspiration from the glass itself, allowing its movement and

feel to guide the bead shapes. I then apply surface decoration that en-
hances those forms. My creations range from classic styles to whimsical,

sometimes sculptural, pieces. Using ancient techniques to transform frag-
ile glass rods into durable, wearable, and functional art and knowing that

these tiny works of art will exist for many ages is what draws me to the
flame.
