Working with molten glass is exciting, humbling, and indescribably satisfying. The processes involved are thousands of years old yet every session at the torch is a learning experience. The chemical makeup of glass allows for endless colors and special effects, many of them yet to be discovered. I draw my inspiration from the glass itself, allowing its movement and feel to guide the bead shapes. I then apply surface decoration that enhances those forms. My creations range from classic styles to whimsical sometimes sculptural, pieces. Using ancient techniques to transform fragile glass rods into durable, wearable, and functional art and knowing that these tiny works of art will exist for many ages is what draws me to the flame.
