PHOEBE BURNS | STUDIO 115

MIXED MEDIA, PAINTING

Phoebe Burns is a multidisciplinary artist at PB Surrealism in Studio 115 at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment. Burns uses photography and mixed media to capture concepts in a conceptual and experimental manner in order to communicate a question. Phoebe Burns communicates questions rather than answers because she cannot answer for others. Burns believes people come to their own answers through questions.

Phoebe’s photography uses a heavy amount of symbolism, surrealism and conceptualism. Burns’ Mixed Media uses figurative abstraction and experimental techniques. These experimentations range from purposefully ripping materials, splattering paint and even burning paper. The ways she has used the mediums have been described as bold and thought provoking due to Burns’ original style and ideas. The objective of Phoebe Burns’ art is to create conversation amongst individuals on topics that, she feels, need to be discussed.

Burns experiments with different art mediums and art forms to push the possibilities of art. Burns is a recent graduate of the University of Alabama, earning undergraduate degrees in B.S. of Computer Science and a BFA of Digital Art and Photography with Honors. One of Burns’ many mentors is the internationally known, award-winning Chip Cooper.
