“I have always gravitated towards whimsey and surrealism; from paintings by Salvador Dali to movies like Yellow Submarine and Pink Floyd’s The Wall. As my career in art evolved, I experimented and found that I also love creating variatons on a single theme. In the past few years, I’ve combined these two concepts into my largest project to date: a series of black and white illustrated teacups. With this unifying theme, I manipulate each cup to emulate a different subject. I found a new appreciation of pen and ink and developed an intense love for the movement, textures, and control with the tool. I use this medium in other works as well, exploring darker images while mediating on the true meaning of words and how they shape and are shaped by the context.”
