Mission Statement
The goal of Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment is to nurture artists while educating the public about art and the creative process. In order to accomplish this, the Mill has established a community where artists, in a working studio environment, are able to create, display, and sell their work; and the public has the opportunity to visit, view, learn, and acquire work by local artists.
Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment is the largest privately owned arts facility in the nation. With a focus on visual artists and makers, this historic textile mill has been redeveloped into 161 working studios for over 250 artists, makers, and independent businesses, seven galleries, a theatre, a community garden, and event spaces.
Within this thriving creative community are artists and makers from across the world. The Mill serves as a space to create, learn, and collaborate. With studio spaces lining the hallways, visitors are encouraged to openly explore the Mill and artist spaces where they learn about the artists and purchase their works. This historic arts center provides its community—both in and outside the Mill—with a space to gain knowledge and hands-on experience in various disciplines, a place to fully immerse in an originative environment, ultimately making arts, entertainment, and culture accessible to those who visit this vibrant facility.
