GLASS, PRINTMAKING
My work is inspired by the natural world and the broad diversity of the flora and fauna that surrounds us. I invite the viewer to consider their relationship with plants and animals. I keep the process and design loose so that the energy and impression of the subject is conveyed through the stroke of the gouges and knives.
I am drawn to printing in relief by the mark making and the engagement of the tools with the substrate and how the subject emerges by reducing the material. Typically, I work in reduction, where the same block is gradually carved away for each successive color.
