MIXED MEDIA

Liza Jane Richey is a multimedia folk artist from Florence, AL. While studying acting at SUNY Purchase College in New York, she discovered a passion for visual art through her collaboration with fashion designer Billy Reid. She created head sculptures for his 2018 Spring Collection and designed window displays for his New York and Florence storefronts. Today, she continues crafting head sculptures using styrofoam molds, covering them with found materials like moss, sticks, pearls, seashells, and repurposed canvas.

Beyond her visual art, Liza Jane is also an accomplished actor and Mezzo-Soprano, embodying a true multidisciplinary artist.

“I make my head sculptures using a variety of materials—moss, sticks, tree bark, seashells, pearls, jean buttons, beads, painted canvas, duct tape—whatever inspires me! I love creating large paintings on drop cloths, freely painting and using handmade stencils. I often include words of affirmation to uplift both myself and the viewer.”  - Liza Jane Richey
