Janis Hutchison has been a professional artist her whole career, focusing on mixed media and fiber sculpture, photography, and graphic design. Though not a painter, Hutchison always wanted to literally paint what she sees in her dreams.

“Dreams always have overt and hidden meanings and my paintings are a visual dream journal. I often dream in series. The overriding theme or continuity of my painting is simply ‘Dreams’, both the actual images, and ideas, for each series of paintings,” says Hutchison.

Within each series there is continuity of pallet and theme, but just as dreams vary greatly, so does the pallet, subject, and even style from one series of dreams to another.
