Join us for a community workshop in the UAH Project Space (Studio 1047) today from 2 – 7 PM! Come have some fun and assemble miniature Dollar Generals for artist Imin Yeh’s project, “The General Store,” a participatory project in conjunction with All in A Line, an exhibition of everyday things, made extraordinary through craft, labor, and accumulation! The communal craft is a way to be together and to chat, listen and to use our hands.
“The dollar store is the general store of the moment, popping up in ubiquity in communities throughout the country. It is also a billion dollar business, capitalizing on needs and conveniences. Together with this community, we will attempt to make 975 General Stores, the number of stores in the state of Alabama as of 2025. My practice has long been interested in visualizing data, making images of everyday facts. This is an ambitious prompt, but made easy through many hands.” – Imin Yeh
