Final Workshop: “The General Store Project” with Imin Yeh
March 27 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
UAH Project Space | Studio 1047
Don’t miss the final community workshop for renowned artist Imin Yeh’s exhibition, “The General Store Project!” This project highlights the importance of community artistry, showcasing everyday things, made extraordinary through craft, labor, and accumulation!
The communal craft is a way to be together and to chat, listen and to use our hands as we assemble miniature Dollar Generals! Help us reach our goal of 975 Dollar Generals, the number of locations here in Alabama!
Plus, Imin Yeh herself will be here from 12:30pm – 1:30pm! Come chat with her about the project and learn more about her creative process.
“The dollar store is the general store of the moment, popping up in ubiquity in communities throughout the country. It is also a billion dollar business, capitalizing on needs and conveniences. Together with this community, we will attempt to make 975 General Stores, the number of stores in the state of Alabama as of 2025. My practice has long been interested in visualizing data, making images of everyday facts. This is an ambitious prompt, but made easy through many hands.” – Imin Yeh
