“Much of my recent work is an extended fantasy based on the history of Kimono in an invented faux-Japan of my own. I lived and traveled in Asia for ten years teaching and studying Asian Art. That intense experience has left me with a band of memories and information that often feels disconnected. I construct paper, cloth, and found material kimonos based on a model from traditional Japanese Buddhism. In their shape and materials, my small Kimono objects are inventions reflecting memories and dreams of Asia; an attempt to integrate that experience into my current reality.”
