ANDREW LUY | STUDIO 271
SCULPTURE
On September 11, 2001, Andrew Luy’s life could have taken a dramatically different path. Just days before the attacks, his contract with an international bank ended, sparing him from being directly impacted. This pivotal moment shifted his perspective, prompting him to focus on what truly mattered.
While pursuing his MBA, Andrew discovered a passion for sculpture, studying under renowned artist Rhoda Sherbell at The Art Students League in New York. Balancing a Wall Street career with graduate studies, he built a portfolio that led to residencies and commissions. His love for sculpture continued to grow despite his demanding corporate role.
During the pandemic, he leaned into his art more than ever, refining his craft and engaging in virtual exhibitions. This passion led him to Huntsville, AL, where his spacious studio allows him to create sculptures for local parks and connect with the community.
"I am conscious about the things that make me happy and want to pass along that joy whenever possible. I want to combine these feelings and incorporate them into sculptures that fit the environment in which they will be displayed and invite the viewer to feel something." – Andrew Luy
