“Float” – The Bubble People

Bubble People - Greens

September 2 - November 21

North Floor Gallery

This exhibition round includes works provided by “Float” which will be on view in the North Floor Gallery from September 2 – November 21, 2026.  Lowe Mill A&E invites patrons and art lovers to join us for Open Studio Night, a building-wide experience when our over 150 studios will be open to the public.  The evening also includes receptions for all seven of our gallery spaces. This series gives the public a chance to meet and interact with visiting artists and discuss their work as it is on display and available for purchase. Come out, enjoy a pleasant evening, and maybe you’ll find that special piece of art that speaks to you!  The Open Studio Night reception is Saturday, November 21 from 5-7 pm.

I’m inspired by the understanding that the audience creates their own interpretations of the work.

The name “Bubble People” comes from the idea that a soap bubble is the ideal shape for the task it’s performing, and falls inline with the metaphor that we are both the ocean and the drop of water. Infinite diversity in infinite combinations told through a limited spread of variables.

These characters began with the goal of telling a story at a glance. A few lines become a character, and a narrative unfolds. I became fascinated by the simplicity of these characters and how color can change everything about that story.

I continue to return to these simple characters, and find something new each time I do. At the core an exploration of color theory, this series has become a platform for me to explore new material and techniques combinations.

This show is dedicated to the mentors, friends, and family that have inspired and encouraged me along the way.

Thank you.
