This exhibition round includes works provided by Maddie Wideman which will be on view in the First Floor West Gallery from March 4 - May 30, 2026. Lowe Mill A&E invites patrons and art lovers to join us for Open Studio Night, a building-wide experience when our over 150 studios will be open to the public. The evening also includes receptions for all seven of our gallery spaces. This series gives the public a chance to meet and interact with visiting artists and discuss their work as it is on display and available for purchase. Come out, enjoy a pleasant evening, and maybe you’ll find that special piece of art that speaks to you! The Open Studio Night reception is Saturday, May 30 from 5-7 pm.
About the exhibit:
This collection of work explores the wrestling that comes with the journey of reconciliation of self. Guided by my love for Jesus, I created this work with the intent to reflect biblical compassion and empathy and to invite others into the same freedom and healing He has given me—with the hope it does the same for viewers. These pieces are inspired by songs that marked specific seasons of my life, functioning as anchors for memory, grief, and endurance. I used various iconography, texture, and movement of color to create tangible expressions of both deep lament over the past and gritty faith moving toward sanctification. Mixed media allows for accumulation, interruption, and revision, which mirrors the emotional landscape of the work. Each piece is also a reflection of my own journey—honest, sometimes messy, but always rooted in redemption from the Lord. My hope is that as you experience this space, you feel seen, known, and encouraged—no matter what you have walked through.
