Josephine Glass Studio 2008 in energetic Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment invites you to learn Capoeira with our local Professor Tarantula!
Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle!
Capoeira is done in a circle, with opponents using a combination of kicks, sweeps, headbutts, and other moves to outmaneuver each other. They use deception, flexibility, and fluidity to avoid direct force, and instead flow with their opponent’s movements until the right moment to attack.
Capoeira is performed to traditional Brazilian songs and musical instruments, such as the bow, which provides the rhythm. The music sets the mood and helps participants create a rhythmic dialogue with their bodies, minds, and spirits.
Capoeira emphasizes the importance of the practitioner’s mental and spiritual state, in which the mind and body can react as one.
Classes are $15 pay in person.
