May 29 - July 27
First Floor Ramp Gallery
This exhibition round includes works provided by Tara Segars which will be on view in the First Floor Ramp Gallery from May 29 – July 27, 2024. Lowe Mill A&E invites patrons and art lovers to join us for Open Studio Night, a building-wide experience when our over 150 studios will be open to the public. The evening also includes receptions for all seven of our gallery spaces. This series gives the public a chance to meet and interact with visiting artists and discuss their work as it is on display and available for purchase. Come out, enjoy a pleasant evening, and maybe you’ll find that special piece of art that speaks to you! The Open Studio Night reception is Saturday, July 27 from 5-7 pm.
About the exhibit;
FUN! serves as a personal exploration of the question: What does fun mean to you? Artists were asked to create a piece that defined their experience with the word “fun”, whether it be through bright colors, fun materials, nostalgic memories, or some other method of remembrance. This exchange called for artists excited by the act of play, and could address anything from childhood to artistic process to contemporary conversations.
This print exchange exhibits the work of 24 national artists working within print media.
About the artist:
Tara Segars is a printmaker and educator from Huntsville, AL. Her current work serves as an exploration of human interaction with familiar fabricated environments, using arcade centers as a gateway between real life and the idealism of a virtual one. It is both a portrait of these virtual recollections as well as a memory of something that no longer exists.
