Jennifer Tarkington officially opened her first studio, Photography by Jennifer in 1982. Her interest in photography began at a very early age as her family owned a local camera and photography business, Southerland’s Photo. Jennifer discovered her love of photography through her father and began her business in fashion photography. Those images landed her in such prestigious publications as Vogue, Town & Country, and Time Magazine. After much success in the fashion industry, Jennifer embarked on a new chapter in her life with the birth of her son, Joseph, which in turn, launched the most successful endeavor of her life: children’s portraiture. Through children’s photography, she has also continued fashion photography with publications such as Strasburg Children and the internationally published Sew Beautiful magazine.
