She attended The Art Institute of Atlanta for fashion design\, worked in the garment industry and taught at Bauder Fashion College until moving with her  husband in Huntsville. She pursued her own custom dressmaking and design business with bridal gowns and debutante dresses being the most challenging. Currently Kim is in charge of developing adult programs for the Theatre Of Fashion.
