DESCRIPTION:Josephine Glass Studio 2008 in rhythmic Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment wants you to experience the music\, rhythms and dances of various countries such as Scotland\, Romania\, Greece\, and beyond! No prior experience or partners needed\, all ages welcome. You’ll start with simple social walking dances\, and work your way each week toward some of the more complex\, iconic dances as the month progresses. This is a  great way to learn about other cultures in a friendly environment that exercises your mind and body. This class meets Thursday evenings from 6-7 p.m. This is a $15 pay in person class. \nInstructor: Amanda Albrecht has been dancing since the age of five. She began performing folk dances in 2009\, and has been working ever since to expand her own knowledge of various types of cultural dances\, and to share them with others. Her dance repertoire includes swing\, hula\, tango\, two-step\, cha-cha\, waltz\, polka\, and contra. She has performed Scandinavian folk dances internationally with the Sons of Norway team from Poulsbo\, WA\, and has served the Bozeman Folklore Society as instructor\, committee chair\, and president. For the Folklore Society\, she taught folk dances from England\, Romania\, Scotland\, Israel\, Ireland\, Armenia\, Bolivia\, Bulgaria\, Japan\, Brittany\, Norway\, Assyria\, Ukraine\, Austria\, Greece\, Serbia\, Turkey\, Sweden\, Macedonia and more! You can probably find her on some dance floor in town 2-3 times a week. \nSupplies and Attire: All materials and supplies will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in\, and shoes that will let you slide easily.

DESCRIPTION:Josephine Glass Studio 2008 in energetic Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment invites you to learn Capoeira with our local Professor Tarantula! \nWear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle! \nCapoeira is done in a circle\, with opponents using a combination of kicks\, sweeps\, headbutts\, and other moves to outmaneuver each other. They use deception\, flexibility\, and fluidity to avoid direct force\, and instead flow with their opponent’s movements until the right moment to attack. \nCapoeira is performed to traditional Brazilian songs and musical instruments\, such as the bow\, which provides the rhythm. The music sets the mood and helps participants create a rhythmic dialogue with their bodies\, minds\, and spirits. \nCapoeira emphasizes the importance of the practitioner’s mental and spiritual state\, in which the mind and body can react as one. \nClasses are $15 pay in person.

No high kicks\, leaps\, or hard shoes required\, just a desire to have fun dancing Ceilidh party dances.  Be ready to join in the sets for St. Patrick’s Day or Burns Night or any other time there’s celtic music available to dance to. \nThe goal of this class is to teach you the basics of Irish and Scots ceilidh dances\, along with some of the more widely known dances. \nWhile we probably can’t cover dances from all seven Celtic Nations\, we’ll do our best to present a wide selection of celtic dance and have a good time dancing it. DESCRIPTION:Danny Davis Studio Rail Road 7 in melodic Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment will be opening his studio for a night with Billy Allen + The Pollies! The story of what fused Allen and The Pollies is one that begins in a bar 8 years ago. This particular bar was on Allen’s gig circuit and it just so happens to be where Jay Burgess (founder of The Pollies) was having a drink that evening. While there was intrigue and potential in that first chance meeting\, the two would remain ships in the night\, each building their own careers\, until years later when the stars would align at FAME studios in Muscle Shoals. As the story goes\, both Allen and The Pollies\, who were all occasional session musicians at Fame\, were finally in the room together and the track on deck was Little Richard’s “Greenwood\, MS”. To hear Allen retell this part of the story is to hear a man talk about the beginnings of a priceless friendship. “There was an immediate romantic musical connection\,” Allen said. “This is my band.” To hear Burgess tell it\, the feeling was mutual. Over the subsequent year\, the two groups rehearsed\, toured\, wrote\, and gelled together under the moniker Billy Allen + The Pollies with world renowned guitar titan Andy McKee.

Additionally\, they aim to establish an emergency medical fund for future needs. \nAll auction items have been generously donated by artists and vendors from Lowe Mill A&E. Supporters are encouraged to explore these unique creations\, visit the artists’ studios at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment \, and follow them on social media. \nThe auction begins on Cyber Monday\, December 2\, and runs until Sunday\, December 8\, at 6 PM. Items are available for preview now\, with additional pieces being added.
