SUMMARY:Sean Star Wars - Carve Forever!
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition round includes works provided by Sean Star Wars which will be on view in the North Floor Gallery from November 27\, 2024 – February 8\, 2025.  Lowe Mill A&E invites patrons and art lovers to join us for Open Studio Night\, a building-wide experience when our over 150 studios will be open to the public.  The evening also includes receptions for all seven of our gallery spaces. This series gives the public a chance to meet and interact with visiting artists and discuss their work as it is on display and available for purchase. Come out\, enjoy a pleasant evening\, and maybe you’ll find that special piece of art that speaks to you!  The Open Studio Night reception is Saturday\, February 8 from 5-7 pm. \nArtist statement: \nI choose the format of the large scale color woodcut because it best suits my energy charged\, caffeine induced\, aggressive approach to image making.  Charles Bukowski\, Ms Pacman\, Phillip Guston and Neil Blender are among my influences. Somewhere along the way\, I realized that I could accomplish my goals as an artist without enslaving myself to the meticulous obsessions of “traditional” printmaking. I don’t slow down to make perfect drawings or to finesse my color registration. I hammer out the carvings and blast out the prints\, and move on to the next print\, the next day. My primary concern is to create a strong visual infused with a sense of satirical humor\, in other words I like to tell funny stories using funny pictures. \nArtist bio: \nSean Star Wars lives in Laurel\, MS with his wife and five children.  Sean earned his MFA in Printmaking from Louisiana State University. In addition to making woodcuts for over thirty years\, Sean has been an Adjunct Professor\, a janitor and a used car salesman. Sean currently works fulltime as a printmaker and he makes about a dozen visiting artist appearances a year at many of the nations’ leading art programs.  Sean is a proud member of the legendary Outlaw Printmakers and his work is in numerous public and private collections.   Star Wars’ work can be seen on book covers\, album covers\, magazines\, television programs\, films and commercials.  He is currently embarking on his most challenging project ever\, a woodcut a week “FOR LIFE”.  Sean drinks more Mountain Dew than anyone who has ever lived and he can beat you at Ms. Pacman.  \n  \nInstagram: @seanstarwars \nWebsite: Woodcut Funhouse

DESCRIPTION:Cattyshack Inc. Studio 1062 in charitable Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment\, is hosting an online auction to kick off holiday shopping while supporting a meaningful cause. The organization is raising funds to cover medical expenses for several kittens currently being treated for Feline Infectious Peritonitis\, a condition that requires costly treatments and frequent vet visits. Additionally\, they aim to establish an emergency medical fund for future needs. \nAll auction items have been generously donated by artists and vendors from Lowe Mill A&E. Supporters are encouraged to explore these unique creations\, visit the artists’ studios at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment \, and follow them on social media. \nThe auction begins on Cyber Monday\, December 2\, and runs until Sunday\, December 8\, at 6 PM. Items are available for preview now\, with additional pieces being added. Please note that official bidding starts on December 2\, and any bids placed before then will not be counted. \nCattyshack Inc. extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone supporting this effort and to the artists who contributed their work.
